As India is under threat from Pakistan once again, I cant help but remember Gandhi's advice to India: Let Jinnah become the first Prime Minister of India, Nehru. Please don't let India get partitioned. For the partition will not let the generations of tomorrow live in peace with each other. There will be terrible riots at the time of partition and violence afterward.
Alas, after Gandhi's purpose was served for us Hindu's and we were near Independence, we ourselves killed him and his dream of a unified India that does not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed, or religion. Somewhere I can see his soul still crying... telling us that he does not want to be the father of a nation that has forgotten all that he stood for, but makes a mockery of his dreams by printing his face on all the wealth that its children are aspiring to build for itself.
In wealth and finance and progress I believe. But not in making a mockery of a person who dreamed a very different future for India, and in whose dream lies the answer to the dichotomy that divides India today.
